New hair, new me!

Last month I decided, after six years, that my bright scarlet red hair was to go. It was time to leave the Magicontrast and Fudge Hot Chilli behind, and embrace something different – time for new hair!

I loved my red hair. It was bright, and bold, it was me. It looked fab on my wedding day with my white dress and blue shoes. But, I wanted a change. I wanted new hair.

Six years of red hair!

So, I went to the new salon of an old hairdresser of mine, Paula, and she performed miracles – stripped the red out, gave me a gorgeous peachy/blonde/copper new do – AND the best blunt bob cut I could have ever wished for!

Peachy keen!

It took me a week or so to fully embrace my new shade, my new hair.  Red is a bold colour. It becomes part of you. All of my life I’ve colured my hair, moving, usually, between blonde, red and black. I’d had platinum blonde hair prior to this red spell, and black prior to that (which Paula lifted right up to blonde!).

Paula opened her salon, Nine Zero, in Glasgow’s Clarkston last year, and it’s chic, compact, and it’s run by Paula – who knows her stuff! Paula has performed miracles on my hair.

Sadly, these days, it’s in a worse condition than it ever was, and, as I was letting it grow, it was just shapeless and lifeless.  A year or so ago, a ‘celebrity’ hair dresser chopped away at my hair, and gave me the worst cut ever. He didn’t listen to what I wanted, just cutting whatever he thought would suit me best, without really looking at my hair.

BIG hair change!

Before and after

Afer that, I ws terrified to let anyone touch it. I did have a great cut at Edinburgh’s JFK salon, but I had pretty much left it alone, just getting the roots done, for the best part of a year.

I am so glad I finally took the plunge and changed it though. I love it. I love the cut even more than the colour, I have to admit. I don’t know if the red will come back – maybe one day.

Stary face!

But for now, I am thrilled with what Paula has done – well worth the four hours + in the salon!

Inbetween stage!

in the middle of the process!

If you are in Glasgow, then pop into Nine Zero – you won’t be disappointed! Everyone needs new hair from time to time!
