Did you know that ‘merle’ in French means blackbird? Hence the wee birdie I drew as my logo.
My parents named me after movie star Merle Oberon.
I love my name.
I also love cats (like, really love them), Hello Kitty, red lipstick and vintage things.
Particularly from the 1970s. I’d love to live in a 1970s-built house, filled with 1970s treasures, and a lot of orange and brown.
I’ve been writing, professionally, since I was 21. My career was a complete accident, but it’s been fun.
In the last 20-odd years, I’ve covered football, interviewed celebrities, reviewed pubs and clubs, styled fashion shoots home and abroad, and
played with reviewed THOUSANDS of beauty products, and been paid for it.
I was a Football Reporter for an agency, I worked at a top football club for four years as a club magazine reporter, and then I did six years at the Daily Record, as Features Writer, and Fashion and Beauty Editor.
I became freelance in 2005, and work from my wee home office.
I used to blog at Beauty Bombshells – the archive is still there, if you fancy a look at beauty with an old Hollywood movie star twist.
Welcome to Merle’s World. Grab a cuppa and stick around for a while, why don’t you?
